The Success Story of Rano Rishidev from the Musahar Community

Rano Rishidev

Rano Rishidev is a member of the Musahar community in Bakhri, Ward No. 12 of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Morang District. In the month of Ashoj, heavy rain caused a flood that entered her house and washed away all the food grains her family had stored. With no food to cook, her family had to stay hungry for several days. Since they survive on daily wage labor, their income also stopped, and they became completely helpless.

In this difficult time, relief materials provided through the Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) became life-saving for her family. Basic food items such as lentils, rice, oil, and salt once again allowed her household to light the cooking fire. It was not just food, it was hope returning to their lives

Rano Rishidev, with emotion, said,

“At a time when we had no way to eat, this support gave us the foundation to survive. For poor families like ours, it became a great lifeline.”

The smile that returned to her face after receiving relief showed the real impact of the program. Today, she is not only a person who received support but also an active member of the Shraddha Dalit Women’s Group. She inspires other women to stand together during times of crisis.

In the end, she expressed her gratitude to FEDO, saying,

“We are deeply thankful to FEDO for remembering us and helping us during difficult times. This support gave us the courage to live and the strength to move forward.”
