ABOUT US
Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) was founded in Nepal as a non-profit, apolitical, and secular non-governmental organization in 1994 by a group of Dalit women with a passion to eliminate caste and gender-based discrimination. It is a pioneer organization to advocate Dalit’s rights and women’s rights simultaneously. It stands as a key resource organization on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). With a vision of ‘just and equitable society’, FEDO puts Dalit women at the core of its initiatives.
FEDO’s organizational network/presence is expanded 56 districts and all seven provinces of Nepal. By operating through district offices, it better understand local issues and able to develop strong relationships with communities, stakeholders and local development actors. More than 2100 grass-root level women’s groups and frontline leaders at local levels are member base of the organization. FEDO is also affiliated, and has been working with national and international networks and platforms of women and Dalits.
Responding to this pandemic, FEDO has stepped up and provided much-needed humanitarian support to the vulnerable populations: Dalit and marginalized ones of Nepal. It has been rigorously working on spreading awareness among the vulnerable groups and organizing psychosocial counseling for the needy ones along with coordinating with the Nepal government to identify and address the most urgent needs of Dalits in this pandemic.
