Nepalgung/December 22, Kala Swarnakar has been elected as the new president of the Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) from the 4th Annual General Convention that concluded on Tuesday in Nepalgung. A team of 15 different positions of the central committee were elected by the convention.
Shanti Paswan and Chameli Pariyar have been elected vice president of FEDO. Likewise Renu Sijapati was elected as general secretary of the organization.
Similarly, Punyabati Ramtel and Manju Sunar were secured in the post of treasurer and secretary respectively. Pandu Pariyar (eastern region), Pabitra Bishwakarma (Mid-region) Sujata Paudel (Western), Hima Sunar (Mid-West Region) and Shashi Sob (Far western) have been elected as the central working committee member of FEDO. Four other members will be nominated by central committee as per the provision of FEDO's constitution.
After the win Swarnakar said she would focus her attention to participation and inclusion of Dalit women in the all sector of state organs.
Founder and former President of FEDO, Durga Sob said that she only leaving the active role of president but she promises to do best to ensure better implementation of Dalit women. 'I would work earnestly to enhance Dalit women's participation in all organs of the state' said Sob.
FEDO is a national level Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 1994 to establish the rights of Dalit women by organizing and empowering them for their mainstreaming into national development. [+ read more]
