Sarita Sob is the member of the District Executive Committee of FEDO Kailali. Born in 2037 B.S. in Dang District Tulsipur-6, Rajapur in parentship of Rewati Prasad Shahu and Sharada Devi Shahu as second child. She is 26 years old. Her family was migrated to Kailali district from Dang in 2050 B.S. She was got married when she passed her 8th standard. Her excitements for study become lay down after having 2 sons and 1 daughter and she was passing her daily life as a house-wife.
At that time there was formation of Tole committee by CPN UML nearby. So reached there and got general membership of the same party. In first she was barren and inactive in party’s movement. Then she knew about Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) in the district and went to the office. There she met with the president and got cleared about the working approach and mechanism of the organization. She was curious to join the organization but couldn’t express her feelings. Slowly she understood about the organization and expressed her interest in front of the president.
The president told the process for membership and gave her the assurance. She had succeeded to the get the general membership and active membership after one year by her activeness. The organization provided her opportunities to participate in various capacity building activities and got knowledge of social development sector. She was elected as the district member of the Executive Committee in 2068 B.S. by General Assembly and District Assembly. Then she realized and experienced about the electoral process and felt for the great achievement in her life after this. For enhance her capacity, she was actively participated in various programs of the organization.
Then she entered into active politics by the advisement of many senior politicians and her organization’s colleagues. In question for why she joined in politics from the organization, she said,” I have to work on for many suppressed women of the society.” Then she performed her active role in her party and participated in many party’s programme.
At the same, there was the lobby for meaning participation of Dalit Women in the major political party by FEDO through ‘Increasing Dalit Women’s Political Participation for Sustainable Peace in Nepal’ project. CPN UML party felt and realized for the inclusion of active Dalit women in their party, so she was elected as the Member in Party’s District Executive Committee from 7th District Assembly in 2069 BS. In another about her future plan, she said,” I will struggle for the establishment of the rights of Dalit women through insuring them within 33% of Inclusion Policy.” She also said,” FEDO is my moral source to reach me here at this present time.” In this way Dalit women are empowering and claiming their position in community.
