The Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) was established in 1994 by a group of concerned Dalit Women with the vision to "fight against caste and gender discrimination and to construct a just and equitable society". FEDO is an issue-based organization that works in 40 district chapters in Nepal . It aims to promote the rights of Dalit women through advocacy, education, economic empowerment, health and sanitation, and organizational development.

FEDO is challenging Nepalese culture and customs – it would like to change the currently oppressive systems and society's negative views about Dalit women. FEDO takes a participatory approach to development and its programs assess the needs of the local communities in which it works in order to increase the community members' ownership of the project. FEDO's programs provide Dalit women with the awareness and empowerment they require to improve their lives. FEDO makes Dalit women's voices heard from grassroots to national and international levels. FEDO has lobbied with national planners, policy makers, and political leaders to mainstream Dalit issues.
