It is considered to be of the biggest and strongest in 80 years. Death toll to rise. People gathered in an open space and slept on the streets. The situation is devastating. Earthquake death toll reaches 8,664 and additional 21,974 who were left injured. The highest date rates were of children under the age of 10 years. The disaster saw 501,906 homes fully destroyed and a further 272,232 partially destroyed. Quake caused massive damage of life and property across the country. The people have beard a huge lose. UNESCO World Heritage Sites that are historically and culturally recognized such as Dharhara tower, Basantapur Durbar (palace) Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square among others in Kathmandu valley have either suffered from massive destruction. Besides, innumerable houses and buildings have either collapsed or are badly damaged in Kathmandu valley. Almost all coverage of the earthquake has focused on Kathmandu while the epicenter was rural Nepal, where the majority of Nepali’s live. BBC reports Avalanche in southern part of the Everest, entire villages have been flattened and relief personnel cannot access.

Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Dhading, Rasuwa, Kavre, Nuwakot, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Ramechhap districts are the ones that are most affected by the quake. In Gorkha district (epicenter of the first quake) and Sindhupalchowk district (epicenter of the second quake), almost 90% of houses and infrastructures are fully destroyed or not in usable situation. Communication lines and transportation in those areas are disrupted thus hindering rescue and relief efforts.

Analyzing this entire situation and assessing the needs, FEDO has been trying to reach to unreached affected families however it may be small support from FEDO but it values big.

FEDO has started to support the affected families from April 29, 2015. As we were informed that concerned authorizes have been doing disparity in supplying relief support and providing the nearest one and who have access to such authorities. FEDO served the most affected Village Development Committees (VDC) of 8 districts namely: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavre, Ramechhap, Dhading, Sindupalchowk and Nuwakot so far. The relief support was provided to the affected families by analyzing their immediate needs. FEDO with the collaboration with the district team provided the possible support to the neediest families. As the majority of the victims are extreme due to which it is difficult to reach to each and every individuals. Despite the hurdles, FEDO did the justice in assure that the most vulnerable ones are benefited.

The families were provided with rice, pulses,  rice, pulses, salt, edible oil, beaten rice, noodles, biscuits, medication, water purifier, hygiene kit, dignity kit, mattress, tents, buckets, blankets and clothes. The total of 1287 Households was benefited by the FEDO's support so far and also one schools. The volunteers were mobilized in different areas during the relief support.
